French Bulldogs are used mostly as pets and yet they make wonderful watchdogs. This AKC Non-Sporting breed is a clown by nature due to its remarkable appearance and merry personality. The breed has close links to the English Bulldog, a superior fighting dog that underwent many changes in the course of history and is now a mellow companion.

It is argued still whether the French Bulldog is solely a smaller version of its English counterpart and was developed in England and later came to France. Some people are inclined to think that though the French Bulldog is the relative of the English Bulldog, it was developed in France and introduced later to Great Britain. Whatever the case may be, the French Bulldog is one of the most exciting pets to own.
